Welcome

Sephiroth was sitting back to back with Tayeko in her room trying to comfort her. Tayeko had since seen Hojo's true colors in the past few years and was growing miserable in her situation. Sephiroth and Tseng were the only sunshine in her life, and lately she saw less and less of Tseng as he was needed more with the Turks.

Today Tayeko was especially depressed. She missed her father terribly and had been crying for the past fifteen minutes, and Sephiroth didn't know what to do.

"I just want to get out of here," Tayeko sobbed.

Sephiroth got and idea. He was more unhappy than Tayeko was in this dump. Maybe they could escape through the ventilation system.

"Tayeko, do you want to leave this place?"

Tayeko looked up at him. "How?"

Sephiroth grabbed her hand. "Follow me."

Tayeko wiped her face and followed Sephitoth into her bathroom. He stood on the toilet and removed the cover from the vent. He climbed into it and reached his hand out to Tayeko.

"I'm not going in there!"

"Well we can't just run out the front door," he pointed out.

Tayeko sucked her teeth and climbed on the toilet. She gave Sephiroth a skeptical look.

"It's the only way out," he said.

Tayeko nodded and let Sephiroth help her climb into the vent. They began crawling down the vent until they came to a spilt.

"Which way?" Tayeko asked.

"Doesn't matter," Sephiroth said. "Eventually we'll get out of this place."

Tayeko nodded and followed Sephiroth.

******

Hojo heard banging and shuffleing above his head. Frowning up at the ceiling, he decided he'd call security and tell them to surveil the venting system. Someone was in those vents and he'd be damned if it was one of his specimens escaping.

******

Tayeko was beginning to tire. They'd been traveling through the vents for nearly an hour and they didn't seem to be getting anywhere near an exit.

"Let's just keep going," Sephiroth said upon noticing her hesitation. "We've gotta get out of here eventually."

Tayeko was about to respond when the duct buckled beneathe them and crashed. They slid down the opening through the ceiling and onto the floor. Sephiroth recovered quickly to see the angry face of Hojo and four guards behind him.

Tayeko finally managed to stand when she saw Hojo wringing Sephiroth's neck and barking orders. A guard came up behind her and grabbed her arms tightly.

Hojo tossed Sephiroth on the floor and another guard ran up to contain him. Hojo walked over to Tayeko and slapped her twice across the face.

"Alot of nerve you brats have trying to escape!" he snarled. "You will pay for this!" He turned to the guards. "Take them to my office, now!"

The two guards holding the frightened children nodded and left to Hojo's office, the other two bringing up the rear. Hojo scowled as he followed behind them. His specimens weren't getting away that easily.

******

Scarlet adjusted her vampish red dress before entering Hojo's office. She was going to need more of his special tranquilzers and soon.

She stepped into the waiting room. His secrectary was nowhere to be seen. After looking around, Scarlet heard a terrible racket coming from Hojo's office.

It sounded like children, a girl and boy, were crying and screaming at the top of their lungs. There was banging sounds, slapping, thumping, stomping, and the sound of running. Most chilling of all was Hojo's screams of rage and constant orders.

Scarlet did not like what she was hearing, but she was going to find out. She pushed open the door and came face to face with an unspeakable horror.

Four guards were in the room, beating two children with the butt ends of their rifles and kicking them and punching. The chairs were toppled over and the children were curled up in balls on the floor in front of the desk. Hojo was on knees on top of his desk, leaning over it and pointing at the children and screaming at them. His eyes shot up when he saw Scarlet standing in the doorway.

"Hojo!" she snapped. "What's going on?!?"

Hojo gave her a nasty look before ordering the guards to leave and take the children to their rooms. Scarlet caught a glimpse of them as the guards dragged them out. Both children were bleeding from their nose and mouths, and were covered in bruises and scratches. The girl was unconcious, but the boy was healing before her very eyes and spitting blood as he shot angry glances in Hojo's direction.

When they were gone, Scarlet stamped towards Hojo as he climbed down from atop his desk. She hit the surface of it and demanded to know what was going on.

Hojo smirked at her. "They got out of hand," he replied.

Scarlet was out done. "Got out of hand?" she shreiked. "They're just kids, Hojo! Nothing they could do could deserve that sort of punishment!"

"That girl is a Cetra," Hojo continued. "Sephiroth is my greatest scientific acheivement to date, and you know it. They tried to escape today. I can't risk that happening."

Scarlet folded her arms across her chest. "I don't care if they tried to fly to the moon, Hojo," she said. "The President is going to hear about this right away!"

"I don't think so, Scarlet," Hojo grinned.

"What?"

"Scarlet, you know Minnie Barter, secretary on the third floor, right?"

Scarlet face was puzzled. "Yes, what does she have to do with any of this?"

Hojo laughed. "I have a little recording of you telling Miss Barter what a lousy lover he is and so on. Do you think he'd be so happy to hear that? I don't."

Scarlet was horrified. "W-what? We were alone when we said those things!"

Hojo sat on the edge of the desk and smirked at Scarlet again. "You're never alone with me around, dear."

Scarlet narrowed her eyes in rage before lunging at Hojo in an attempt to strangle him. Hojo was much too quick, though, and grabbed both her wristed and pulled her face close to his.

"I wouldn't do that, Miss Scarlet," he hissed.

Hojo snatched her hands back and rubbed her wrists as if removing some infectious disease from them. "You won't get away with this, Hojo!" she declared.

Hojo smiled at Scarlet. "Give up on the President, Scarlet. If you're looking for a man you'll appreciate you, I'm available."

Scarlet looked at him as if he'd gone mad. "You?? Why the hell would I want to get mixed up with you?"

Hojo glared at her. "You don't seem to have a problem coming to me when you nees something, which is why I suspect you are here in the first place!"

Scarlet shot him a nasty look. "You are the last person on this earth I would ever dream of touching!"

Hojo walked behind his desk and waved her off. "I like my women less worn, anyway."

Scarlet slammed her fist on the table. "Take that back!"

"You are in no position to give orders," Hojo muttered. "Didn't you come in here to beg me for more of those tranquilizers that only work on SOLDIERS?" Scarlet's heart sank. She walked to the door in a burst of anger. "The President WILL hear about this today!"

"Don't forget the tapes, dear," he reminded her. "Which can all be forgotten if you take me up on my order..."

"Never!" Scarlet shreiked as she opened the door. "You are a pyschotic freak!" With that, Scarlet strode out the door and slammed it with all her might, knocking a framed certificate off the wall and sending it crashing to the floor.

Hojo scowled and threw a pen at the door. Bitch. He'd take care of her in time. Until then he was going to worry about how to deal with Sephiroth and that damned Cetra. He'd have to split them up, but then he'd risk lowering their chances to mate. Hojo shrugged. It would just be a risk he'd have to take.

******

Sephiroth didn't see Tayeko until several years later, when he was seventeen and she was fourteen. Hojo decided to keep them apart for awhile to see if what would happen.

Tayeko's new caretaker, Niko, walked her to the holding cell and left her there. Tayeko saw Sephiroth as soon as she entered.

"Sephiroth!" she exclaimed, running over to him. She wrapped her arms around him, but he did not return the gesture.

"Sephiroth?" she queried. "Is something wrong?"

Sephiroth merely shrugged. "Hi," he said, before turning to face to wall.

Tayeko was confused. Sephiroth seemed colder and even more closed than she remembered him to be. He shyed away from even the slightest touch.

Tayeko frowned at Sephiroth just as Tseng and another Turk, Aaron, entered the room. Aaron was now head of the Turks after Gerald retired, and was not the best one.

"Let's go, kids," he barked. "Hojo wants ta see yas."

Tayeko smiled and tried to hold Sephiroth's hand, but he merely followed the Turks. Tayeko frowned and followed behind them.

Hojo giggled to himself as he heard Aaron's booming drawl outside the door. C-3 and Sephiroth were more than ready to mate, and today was the day. The room had been set up with a hospital bed and chair for Hojo to assess the situation. Just like with Lucrecia, he would make sure he was at the site of conception.

Aaron pushed Sephiroth in the door as Tseng guided Tayeko in. She waved good-bye to him as he closed the door behind him.

Hojo waved them over. Along the wall were five guards, waiting for an order from Hojo.

"Sit."

Sephiroth obeyed, but Tayeko noticed the cold glare in his eyes and the way he clenched his fists as he approached. The two teens took a seat in front of Hojo and waited.

"I know you have recently begun training at Junon for SOLDIER, Sephiroth," Hojo began, "And I'm terrible sorry for pulling you away and bringin you back to Midgar.. But, you see, it is for a most important cause."

Tayeko was confused. When had Sephiroth gone to Junon? Alot must have happened in the past five years they were apart.

"Well," Hojo continued, "As you know, Tayeko is a Cetra. And Sephiroth, you are a intelligent and strong young man. If I were to breed you, what type of child would I produce?"

Sephiroth cocked an eyebrow. "Don't even think about it, you monster."

"Ha, ha," Hojo laughed. "I have been called worse things. I'm not going to beat around the bush with you, Sephiroth. You are going to impregnate this Cetra and you have no choice!"

"Hey!" Tayeko suddenly yelled. "Since when do you decide what I do with my body? Why do you think you can just use me for and Sephiroth for whatever purposes you want?"

Hojo's grin was insane. "Because I own you," he answered. "Now, see that bed over there? Go hop on it and I will moniter your activity. If you are not pregnant with in two weeks, Tayeko, we will repeat the process."

"No!" Sephiroth screamed, flipping Hojo's desk over in a fit of rage. Hojo's computer crashed the floor, sparks flying. Papers and pens soared all over the room. "You WILL NOT use us for anymore of your sick research!"

Hojo was angry, but impressed with Sephiroth's strength. "You will do as I say," he warned, "Or I will force you to." At that moment, the five guards stepped out and came to attention.

"You can't do this!" Tayeko cried. She ran behind Sephiroth.

"Seize them!" Hojo ordered.

The five guards rushed the two children, but not before Sephiroth was able to unsheathe his new weapon, the Masamune Blade, and slash a guard across the belly.

"Stay back!" Sephiroth warned the other four. "Or you will end up like him!"

Hojo was not aware Sephiroth was already able to weild the most powerful weapon found on earth, the Masamune. While this was good news to his research, right now it left him in a dangerous situation.

Hojo was about bark a fresh order when another guard ran up to Tayeko and grabbed her by the neck.

"How could you do that to my buddy?" the guard mumbled, pointing to the body of the guard Sephiroth had sliced open. "How...?" he threw Tayeko to the ground and pointed the gun at her.

"DON"T SHOOT THE SPECIMEN!!!" Hojo screamed.

"As long as Sephiroth stays back," the guard argued.

Hojo calmed a bit, especially as he saw Sephiroth made now move toward Tayeko. However, his peace was cut short as he heard a deafening cry, a shot, and a scream. Sephiroth had sliced off the hand of the guard with a swift move, and in retaliation, the guard had shot Tayeko square in the heart. She screamed, as blood pooled beneathe her.

"TAYEKO!!!" Sephiroth yelled, dropping to his knees next to her. He cradled her body close.

Hojo stared in horror at the scene before him. The Cetra was dying on the floor. Hojo nearly leaped over the desk.

"Look what you've done!!" he screamed. "You've killed my most valuable specimen!

"I'm sorry!" The guard cried, hold his bleeding stump of an arm. "He sliced my hand off and-"

"Enough!" Hojo cried. He reached over his desk and pulled out a small but deadly revolver from the top drawer. "Do you know what this means?"

The guard didn't say a word as Hojo pointed the revolver at his head and shot him dead on.

Hojo then aimed for the other three guards and shot them on the spot as well.

Sephiroth was sobbing into Tayeko's neck, blood covering him as she breathed her last.

"I love you," he whispered.

Hojo was dialing back up when Sephiroth lept to his feet. "This is all your fault!" he shouted.

Hojo moved the phone away from his ear. "How DARE you blame this on me! If it had not been for your stubborness, that Cetra and those guards would be alive right now!"

Sephiroth lunged at Hojo, but Hojo quickly warded him off and grabbed his wrists. "Don't think that because you can lift that big knife I am powerless against you," he said as SOLDIER came in. "You are not that strong yet, boy,"

"I will be, one day," Sephiroth promised as several SOLDIERS grabbed him. "You will regret this day."

Hojo smiled as the SOLDIERS dragged Sephiroth out. Dr. Stephens and other lab assitants rushed in.

"Dear God!" Stephen's yelled. "What happened here!?"

Hojo scowled at the dead bodies on the floor. "The Cetra was killed in a mose unfortunate accident," he explained. "Those guards paid the price for it."

Stephen's nodded nervously. "We'll have this mess cleaned up."

Hojo threw a notebook at Stephens. How could he call this a mere mess? His most valueable experiment was finished!

Sephiroth sat alone in his room and cried. Tayeko's dried blood was still caked on his clothes and in his hair.

Sephiroth wondered why the only people who had ever cared for him where taken. First his parents, for God knows whatever reason. Then Professor Gast. Now, his only friend, Tayeko.

Sephiroth lay on his bed and wiped away his tears. He would forget friendship. He would forget love. If everything he loved would be taken from him, he wouldn't love anything at all.

That night, Sephiroth cried himself to sleep... for the last time.

The End
